Fashion trends began to appear in the 1400s as people began experimenting with clothing. Tailoring and the introduction of buttons changed loose-fitting garments into clothes that were curved and tight-fitting.

Men’s tunics were shortened near the waist. Men and women began wearing lush velvet and satin.

Though the western shirt is synonymous with the archetypal image of the American cowboy, its origins belong to the meeting of cultures the frontier territories provided.

The history of fashion design begins in Ancient Rome and Ancient Egypt. In these cultures, clothing and fashion were status symbols.

Those who were wealthy would wear expensive and stylish garments that were colorful, while the poor would wear neutral colors and their garments were cheap but useful.

Western wear is a category of men’s and women’s clothing which derives its unique style from the clothes worn in the 19th century Wild West.

At a minimum, western wear generally incorporates a cowboy hat, a leather belt, and cowboy boots. Western fashion grew from the most important groups that lived and worked in the American West.

These were the Spanish, frontiersman, cowboys, Native Americans, and the rodeo, all contributing designs that have become part of the American western design lexicon.
