Traditional wears are the attire that’s relating to a particular culture. They are cloths or attire that are worn by a particular culture or heritage. Those types of clothes are worn by people in the olden days. Even though there are still people who wear it now.
Traditional wears are also an important part of culture identity and it’s more than just a piece of cloth. They are often used to represent a culture,values and tradition of a common.
There are different traditional wears for both men and women in Nigeria and for different cultures.
Examples of men attire are; Agbada, Danshiki and Babaringa, mostly worn by the hausa. Examples for females are; Iro and Buba, Gele etc.
Traditional wears also helps in showcasing the richness and the important parts of community customs and values and it’s also a reflection of a culture’s identity and expression.
There are a lot of ways in combining and style traditional wears this days. Most Muslims wear traditional wears to Jumat on Friday and most Christians wear traditional wears to church on Sunday.
Even student and teachers and lecturers wear it now especially on Friday . The most common native wears are; Ankara, Kampala(adire) and lace.
Native wears have been in existences since ancient times and now people have modernized it and are styling it in a different way.
Most of these clothes were mostly worn as iro and buba and agbada before but now people are creating unique styles with it.
For example,people are using aso oke for their photoshoot, Either pre wedding photoshoot, baby bump shoot or birthday.
Another popular native wears is Kampala. This particular cloth has been trending on social media and they even have a name for it which is “rich aunty”.
They believe that styling Kampala gives them a rich aunty vibes and makes them look mature ,attractive and look like a rich aunty.
In conclusion, traditional wears are clothing pieces that reflect the cultural heritage of are region or country. In Nigeria native wears are diverse and colorful,with each ethnic group having its unique styles.
