Kenneth Okonkwo, a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), has accused the Julius Abure-led executive of being workers of iniquity. Okonkwo described the Abure-led LP executive as a secret society led by a group of clowns.
The former LP presidential spokesman vowed to leave the party if it continues on a trajectory where they cannot even hold an acceptable national convention. In an interview with Symfoni on Thursday, Okonkwo said:
My own Labour Party is not impressing me. If they continue on this trajectory where they cannot even hold an acceptable national convention, do you expect me to stay? Those people are clowns. It is the greatest joke I have ever seen in a political party, and then they want to position themselves as a party of integrity.
You cannot give what you don’t have.Abure and his cohorts, their tenure is over. Let Abure and his cohorts step aside. They are workers of iniquity. I don’t rate them. That executive is in charge of a secret society. They should be apprehended.
The LP has been involved in a leadership crisis since 2023 when Lamidi Apapa, the deputy national chairman, declared himself the acting national chairman. The crisis worsened in 2024 when a national convention in Anambra saw Abure re-elected as chairman.
