The Zamfara State Government has rejected the newly appointed federal permanent secretary,Mrs. Keshinro Ismaila who was appointed by the Nigeria head of the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It was said that the rejection of the state government appointment of MRS Keshinro Ismaila was due to the fact that Mrs Keshinro is not an indigene of Zamfara which cannot make her to legally represent the people of Zamfara.
Contrary to the state government’s claim, PREMIUM TIMES reports that Mrs. Ismaila hails from Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara.

Her grandparents were born to a prominent Christian family in Tsafe town. The name “Keshinro” in her name is from her Yoruba husband.
Despite the state’s rejection, local residents affirm her Zamfara origin, emphasizing her deep-rooted family ties to the region. The controversy over her appointment identifies ongoing debates about state indigene status and representation in federal appointments.
