The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) is restarting the rugby league with the South West Rugby 15s tournament. The event will take place at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, on July 6.
This tournament is the first in a series of regional championships planned by the NRFF to promote rugby across the country. The winners from each region will compete in a grand finale at a later date.
According to NRFF President Dr. Ademola Are, the federation faces funding challenges but remains committed to developing rugby in Nigeria. He expressed his aspiration to make rugby one of the most popular sports in the country.
The NRFF has distributed palliatives to rugby clubs to support their development. This gesture demonstrates the federation’s dedication to growing the sport at all levels.
