“Lucy Bronze, a decorated defender and 125-time England international, has officially joined Chelsea FC Women on a two-year contract, following her departure from Spanish champions Barcelona in June. Bronze’s impressive career achievements include back-to-back Champions League titles, and she expressed her excitement and disbelief at joining the reigning Women’s Super League champions, stating, “It still feels slightly surreal to be a Chelsea player.

“I am thrilled to be returning to England and joining a club with which I have a long and familiar history. My family is equally delighted to be able to attend more of my matches, and I am eager to experience all that London has to offer. I am also looking forward to being part of a team with a rich tradition of success and a reputation for excellence. This marks Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer transfer window, following the acquisitions of Sandy Baltimore and Oriane Jean-Francois from PSG and Julia Bartel from Barcelona. The team is preparing for its inaugural season under new head coach Sonia Bompastor, who joined from Lyon to succeed Emma Hayes, who departed after 12 years to take the helm of the US national team.”
