Anthony Joshua has encouraged Tyson Fury to engage in a fight while both boxers are still in their prime, emphasizing that he won’t wait around for his British counterpart. Joshua, aged 34, is set to challenge Daniel Dubois for the IBF world title on September 21 at Wembley Stadium. Meanwhile, Fury, aged 35, is gearing up for a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in December. A victory for Fury and Joshua could pave the way for an epic undisputed battle between the two.

Let’s just get the fight on while we’re fresh – how many wars do I have to have before I get to Fury? Let’s go,” Joshua said.

The highly anticipated super-fight, which could be the division’s most significant and financially rewarding match, has been discussed for years but faced delays in negotiations. Yet, with Saudi Arabia’s recent financial backing in boxing, there is renewed optimism that the much-awaited bout will come to fruition at last.

It’s a fight that’s been brewing for a long time,” Joshua told BBC Sport on June 27, 2024.

I can’t wait until I’m 50 to fight Fury because I’d have had so many wars, I can’t sit around and wait, I’ve got to continue to fight.
