Eminent Lawyer and founder of Afe Babalola university, Are Babalola, a legal luminary, warns that Nigeria will remain perpetually poor if it fails to produce, citing the need for hard work, honesty and faith to get out of the dejection.
He sound a warning to Nigerians, cautioning that the country will remain perpetually poor if it fails to prioritize production and self-sufficiency.
Babalola emphasized that Nigeria’s over-reliance on importation and lack of investment in key sectors like agriculture, manufacturing, and education will continue to hinder its economic growth and development. He said we cannot continue to rely on imported goods and expect to develop our economy, We must produce what we consume, and consume what we produce.
It’s the only way to achieve true economic independence. Babalola urged the government and private sector to invest in human capital development, innovation, and infrastructure, citing Singapore and China as examples of nations that have achieved rapid economic transformation through strategic planning and investment in their people.
Babalola concluded that we have the potential to be a great nation, he said we should harness our resources, talent, and energy to achieve greatness.
