West Indies cricket captain Kraigg Brathwaite is calling for more Test matches to help his team improve their skills. After a disappointing loss to England in the first Test, Brathwaite believes that playing more Tests will help his team learn and grow faster.
It’s not an even playing field, though – England is one of the wealthiest teams in international cricket, while the West Indies struggles to get by. This financial disparity is reflected in their schedules, with England playing 17 Tests this year and the West Indies only nine.
Brathwaite is passionate about the need for more Test cricket, saying “The more you play, the faster you learn.” He’s hoping that the powers that be will listen and schedule more Tests for his team.
But first, the West Indies need to step up their game. Their batting performance in the first Test was dismal, with the team bowled out for just 121 and 136 runs. Brathwaite knows his team needs to do better, saying “We’ve got to bat a lot better… we’ve got to find a way to put runs on the board.” It’s a tough road ahead, but Brathwaite is determined to lead his team to victory.”
