The FCT fire service expresses one of the challenges they faced was that they were unable to access the scene, due to the large crowd of people running around the area.
In an interview with one of the victims who is a trader, she said “Everything has burnt down. I was unable to recover anything. This is where we feed from ooo. Ah my children’s school fees are there,” Unable to contain her emotion, she cried out “I cannot hold myself, I am in pain, I don’t know if the government can help us. My money that has gone here is over 10 million. I don’t know what to do and where to start from.”
According to the investigation that was carried out, the investigation suggest that the outbreak of the fire may be as a result of an electoral surge, which quickly spread round the market.
The damage cause by the fire is still being accessed. It is very obvious that the fire left a great impact on the Karu community.
