Former Nigerian coach, Enoh, has called on the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to prioritize addressing pressing issues in Nigerian football rather than getting sidetracked by the controversy between Victor Osimhen and Finidi George. Enoh emphasized the need for the NFF to engage with Osimhen before making any pronouncements on the matter.
The controversy began when Finidi allegedly questioned Osimhen’s commitment to the national team after the striker missed the 2026 World Cup qualifiers due to injury. Osimhen responded on social media, claiming he had communicated his injury status to Finidi and offered to join the team in camp without playing, which Finidi declined. Osimhen expressed frustration, stating that he had evidence of their conversation and would share it to clear his name.
Despite the backlash, Osimhen has not apologized, and Finidi has denied making the comments. Enoh stressed that the NFF should focus on managing the many challenges facing Nigerian football rather than getting distracted by this controversy. “Osimhen is a Trojan for Nigeria, but this is a low point. The NFF needs to be focused and not be sidetracked,” Enoh said.
