Apple was accused of violating the bloc tech rules,which led to a substation all fine.The EU known as the European commission,who are responsible for antitrust and technology regulation,announced their preliminary findings following an investigation carried out in march.This marks the first charge under the Digital Markets Acts(DMA)a law design to curb big tech existence and foster fair competition.If Apple fails to address the concerns they could face a fine of up to 10% of their global annual turnover.
Marge the Vestager,antitrust chief,stated some Apple new terms,which was said to restrict app developers ability to communicate freely with their users and make contracts.Apple said they have made several changes to comply with the DMA prior to the feedback from their app developers and commission.However,the commission criticize Apple business terms,due to allowing app developers redirect customer’s to external websites to complete transactions and the fees charged for initial customer acquisition through App store.
Apple’s new contractual requirements for third party app developers and app store is also under investigation by the commission.Key issues include the core technology fee, the multi-step process to download alternative app stores on iPhones, and eligibility criteria for developers to offer alternative app stores or distribute apps directly.A notable Epic game called Fortnite creator have drawn an issue about the recent Apple’s fee implementation in the EU.Also, vest ager criticized Apple’s delay in launching AI powdered features in the EU,the company attributed it to the DMA, stating that it might be considered an AI integration and also anti competitive by Apple
