The Honourable Minister for Sports Development,Senator John Owan Enoh has urges the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) on the 30th of June 2024 to hire a reputable coach with a proven track record in African football, recognizing the unique dynamics of the continent’s football landscape.

In a statement, Senator Enoh said “the Super Eagles needs a coach with pedigree and a track record of achievements. We need someone who can propel us towards winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and ensure our qualification for the 2026 World Cup.”

The Minister stressed the importance of a coach with tactical expertise and deep understanding of African football, stating that they must bring out the best in players.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has received significant support from President Tinubu’s administration, aiming to elevate Nigerian football globally, with the right coach playing a crucial role.

The Minister urged the NFF to expedite the selection process and ensure a new coach is in place for the 2025 AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.
