Samsung Electronics union workers are planning to strike from July 8-10, according to a union official. The move comes amid a dispute over wage negotiations which have broken down between Samsung and the union, with workers seeking higher pay and better working conditions. This will be thefirst strike by Samsung workers infour years. The union stated that itis willing to continue talks with thecompany but has warned of furtherstrikes if there is no progressmade. The strike is expected tocost Samsung around KRW 43billion ($37 million) in lostproduction and revenue. Thecompany has not yet made aformal statement regarding theupcoming strike.
China says US targeting of AI nothelpful to healthy development
In a recent press statement, Chinahas criticized the United States’targeting of AI, stating that it is nothelpful to the healthy developmentof technology and innovation.
The Chinese government hasclaimed that the US is unfairlysingling out China’s AI industry,leading to a negative impact on theglobal technological advancementpace.
China, which has beenaggressively investing in AIdevelopment, views the US’targeting of its AI companies andresearch as a grave threat toglobal technological cooperation.The recent move by the US toblacklist one of China’s AI leaders,Huawei, has only added to thegrowing tensions
between both countries.
EKSG Signs Agreement for the Establishment of Technology Training Hub.

The Center for China-Africa Discourse Studies (CECADS) and the Ekiti State Government have inked a Letter of Intent and Preliminary Memorandum of Understanding for the creation of a cutting-edge technological training hub in the state.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Digital Economy, Mr. Seun Fakuade, stressed during his speech at the ceremony in Hangzhou, China, that the agreement signifies the start of a revolutionary partnership between Ekiti
State and CECADS that will promote innovation and digital transformation in Ekiti State. As soon as the last contracts are signed and the Ekiti State Government allots the land, the project will be put into action.
Additionally, Mr. Fakuade disclosed that the State Government will be able to teach local masons and artisans to satisfy the necessary criteria for the building work during the brief break before finalizing the signing of other documents and allocating land. After construction, the project’s first phase should be finished in a year.
