One of the debate people often talk about is gender equality. Some of them are of the opinion that both genders should be treated equally without any interface when they do not even know that the role of the two differs in society. In this write-up, I’ll explain what gender equality and equity is and how to balance them in society.

Equality is the state of having equal rights and social status. While Equity is the fairness and justice in how people are treated.

Gender equality can be said to be human right. Which implies that men, boys, women and girls have equal easy  of access to resources, treatment  freedoms  and opportunities to exercise control. That everybody regardless of gender should enjoy equal right of social, cultural, economic, education, healthcare and protection.

Gender Equity is the principle  of  justice and fairness in the distribution of benefits, resources, opportunities and enjoyment between men and women critically taking into thier different needs, perspectives and experiences. While equality is the equal treatment of both men and women, Equality understands that equal judgment may not always be just and fair, and that different perspectives and approaches may be needed to achieve true equality.

Gender roles, and needs should be taken into consideration and people need to understand the disparities of both gender before they take stand on gender equality and equity. I believe it should be mostly fairness in judgment and treatment rather than equality because men and women are not the same. Both gender should be treated in fairness and justice regardless of gender or race. Men and women cannot be treated or enjoy equal right because both are not made the same and equally have disparities that limit both  of them to enjoy equal right so therefore Equity in gender should be focused on rather than equality.
