Nuclear energy is a form of energy released from the nucleus, the core of atoms, made up of protons and neutrons. This source of energy can be generated in three ways: Nuclear fission- when nuclei of atoms split into several parts, Nuclear fusion- when nuclei fuse together and Nulear decay-when the nucleus of an atom is unstable and spontaneously emits energy in the form of radiation.
Nuclear weapon was first detonated by the United States on 6th and 9th August 1945 putting the city of Japanese; Hiroshima and Nagasaki in devastastation killing about ninety thousand to one hundred and fourty seven thousand people and about sixty thousand to eighty thousand people in the city respectively.
Nuclear energy ought to be channelled into positivity and the betterment of humankind by generating electricity from the use of reactor in power plant, Powering satellite into space such as voyager 1. Powering heavy ships like aircraft carriers and Nuclear submarines among others.
Russia, The United Kingdom, Pakistan, India, Isreal, North Korea, China, United States of America and France are the current countries that have nuclear weapon with the total of 12,100 Nuclear warheads as of March 2024. The NPT-Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty officially recognized 5(NWS) Nuclear- Weapon States -China,France,Russia, The United Kingdom and the United States as the state officially possessing Nuclear weapons.
The invention of Nuclear weapons has instill tensions, fears and competition amongst the state possessing it. The United States has sanctioned and fought many countries as a result of building and producing Nuclear weapon that is called weapon of mass destruction that can wipe out the entire human race at a blink of an eye. Countries like Ukraine, Libya, and Iraq has been invaded in the past by the United States and Russia for the secret invention of weapon of mass destruction such as nuclear weapons and hydrax.
It’s very confusing…..The United States is fond of sanctioning countries trying or building Nuclear weapons while they have 5,044 warheads buried in the silo across the states,safely kept in Nuclear submarines and foreign military bases. Intriguing right??
