In a daring operation, police in Benue State have successfully neutralized two notorious bandits in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. The encounter unfolded on Sunday when law enforcement officers raided a hideout nestled in Tse Uza, known to be a stronghold for criminal activities.
According to reports, the bandits engaged the police in a fierce shootout upon their arrival at the camp. However, the officers, equipped with superior firepower, managed to overpower the criminals. Two of the bandits sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead upon arrival at General Hospital, Ukum. The remaining perpetrators fled the scene, evading capture.
The aftermath of the operation revealed a cache of seized items, including two pistols with ammunition, three locally-made guns, thirteen motorcycles, camouflage attire, six walkie-talkies, a Toyota Corolla, and a tricycle. These discoveries underscore the scale of criminal enterprise being dismantled by the authorities in the region.
Efforts to curb criminal activities in Sankera, encompassing Logo, Katsina-Ala, and Ukum local government areas, have intensified in recent months. The police have made significant strides, apprehending multiple suspects and seizing a substantial arsenal of weapons. Commissioner of Police, Hassan Yabanet, commended the bravery of his officers and urged residents to provide any information that could aid in tracking down fugitive suspects, particularly those nursing gunshot wounds.
Sankera remains a focal point in Benue State’s battle against rising crime rates, with ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace and security to the area.
