AGAIN, POWER GRID COLLAPSES FOR THE FORTH TIME IN 2024

According to the website of the Independent System Operator, the autonomous arm of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), it was observed that the contribution of power stations to the grid started to decline at about 14:00, falling to 2797.16 MW from an average of 3417.99 MW at about 13:00
The contribution of electricity decreased again until 1020.08 about 15:00 m. before falling drastically to 0.80 at 16:00 m.
The reports that the Trans-Amadi power station generated 0.80. This is the fourth power grid collapse in 2024.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his disappointment at the poor power generation in Nigeria despite the country’s size.
President Tinubu expressed disappointment at Nigeria’s current electricity production capacity of only 4.5GW, deeming it unacceptable. This statement was made during the inaugural meeting of the newly formed Presidential Economic Coordination Council, composed of 31 members. The council convened at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu stressed the need for innovative solutions to tackle the country’s economic challenges. He emphasized the importance of partnerships between the government and private businesses as a driving force for economic progress.
Highlighting the importance of energy security in Nigeria, the speaker emphasized the need for collaborative action to bolster the oil and gas sector. He also stressed the importance of expanding electricity production and distribution nationwide
