The federal government met with two university unions, SSANU and NASU, to discuss their demands for four months’ worth of withheld salaries. However, the meeting ended without a resolution, and the unions are now directing their members to protest and prepare for a strike.
The unions had given the government a two-week ultimatum, which expired on July 4, but the government failed to meet their demands. The Minister of Education promised to take their matter to a higher authority, but no concrete action was taken.
