Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has mandated the reversal of all command promotions granted in the state’s civil service over the past eight years, effective July 1, 2024. Dr. Mrs. N. Q. Obioma, Head of Service, issued a circular directing affected public servants to revert to their previous ranks and salary grades prior to the April 2023 promotions. This measure aims to restore integrity, normalcy, seniority, and adherence to Public Service Rules and Regulations. Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Departments are instructed to ensure compliance and submit corrected 2024 Nominal Rolls. The directive is intended to address issues arising from the previous administration led by Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, while Governor Otti is a member of the Labour party.
