The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has expressed its commitment to turning livestock production into a foreign exchange earner and reducing farmer/herder conflicts in Nigeria. MACBAN President, Alhaji Baba Usman Ngelzarma, welcomed the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development by President Bola Tinubu’s administration. The association had long advocated for a dedicated ministry to modernize livestock production and address sector challenges.
Ngelzarma urged the implementation of the Livestock Reforms and Mitigation Committee’s recommendations to resolve farmer/herder conflicts. In a statement, he expressed gratitude to the federal government, noting that this development fulfills the hopes of Nigerian pastoralists under the Renewed Hope Agenda. MACBAN assured the government of its support in enhancing livestock production and improving the Nigerian economy.
The association also congratulated President Tinubu and the federal government, highlighting their commitment to supporting the livestock sector and addressing related security challenges.
