The president of the federal Republic of Nigeria president Bola Ahmed Tinubu explains that the completion of the residence of the vice president Kashim Shettima with 21 billion naira in the middle of the nations current economy crisis is a fulfillment of one of his promises to Nigerians.
The vice president himself represented Tinubu at the commissioning of the multi – billion naira edifice. He said the project reflect is dedication to accountability, transparency and good utilization of resources to better the country.
Tinubu stated `I hold a very strong opinion that abandoning project after substantial expenditure has been incurred is inherently wasteful and it is in the best interests of the government and the public to see them through to completion’.
The project that was started during the regime of the Erstwhile president Muhammadu Buhari with 14 billion naira was completed by Tinubu’s government. However, the Nigeria labor congress, it affiliate union and citizens of the country who are affected by the inflation and spiking food prices induced by Tinubu’s policies reacted to what they considered to be wastage of resources.
The labor congress are demanding a minimum wage increment and amidst many angry reaction, a netizen with the handle @Hope- The Third tweeted, `To put this in context, with a minimum wage of `over #60000′, this money will pay the salaries of 29000 workers for one year.
