The Nigeria Customs Service has reported a revenue of N1.23 trillion naira for the first six months of 2024 at the Apapa port in Lagos, representing a 143% increase from N421 billion during the same period in the previous year. Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, in charge of the Apapa command, confirmed this during a press briefing.

In addition, the Customs seized six containers of prohibited items, including expired pharmaceuticals, unregistered products, and over 7,000 poultry products with a duty value totaling N424 million. Shaba Mohammed, the director of investigation and enforcement at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), noted that the vessel carrying these items was tracked from its port of loading and prevented from landing due to undeclared cargo, emphasizing that imported frozen food is strictly prohibited.
