NASRDA Inspires Next Generation of Space Innovators in Southeast Nige The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has launched a groundbreaking initiative to promote space technology among secondary school students in the southeast region of Nigeria. Through its Southeast Advanced Space Technology Applications Laboratory (SE-ZASTAL), NASRDA aims to inspire creativity and innovation in young minds, empowering them to become the next generation of space innovators.The program, tagged “Capacity building for young minds: Benefits of Space and Technology Applications,” has already commenced, with a successful training outreach held for 442 students at the Federal Government College, Okposi, Ebonyi state. The students were treated to a series of lectures, skills training, and hands-on experience with space technology facilities, including access to NASRDA’s facilities in Jos, Nsukka, Anyigba, and other locations.The program aims to sharpen the intellectual capabilities of young Nigerians in science and technology innovations, equipping them with the skills and knowledge required to drive the nation’s advancement in space technology. By inspiring creativity and interest in space technology among secondary school students, NASRDA is investing in the future of Nigeria’s space industry.The Principal of Federal Government College, Okposi, Mr. Frank O.A. Omale, commended NASRDA for the initiative, noting that no nation can survive without adequate involvement in space technology and its innovations. He urged the students to take advantage of the opportunity, describing it as a great privilege for the school to be selected as the first beneficiary in the southeast region.The students who participated in the training outreach expressed their excitement and gratitude, with one student, Okorie Ifeanyichukwu Timothy, describing the program as “well-organized” and stating that it had stimulated his interest in the technical aspects of space technology and its applications. With this initiative, NASRDA is paving the way for a brighter future for Nigeria’s space industry, one that is driven by the creativity and innovation of its young citizens.
