Reigning Wimbledon men’s singles champion Carlos Alcaraz displayed remarkable resilience to secure a spot in the semi-finals of the men’s singles by overcoming the USA’s Tommy Paul.
Despite finding himself a set and a break down to the Queen’s Club winner at one point, Alcaraz capitalized on a series of unforced errors from Paul, ultimately prevailing 5-7 6-4 6-2 6-2.
This victory marks Alcaraz’s consecutive semi-final appearances at SW19, having previously reached the last four at Roland-Garros in successive years.
Notably, in the Open Era, only Rafael Nadal has achieved successive French Open and Wimbledon semi-final appearances at a younger age than Alcaraz.
The upcoming semi-final presents a compelling rematch with 6ft 6in opponent Daniil Medvedev, whom Alcaraz defeated in straight sets in the 2023 Wimbledon semi-finals. Medvedev’s captivating triumph over world number one Jannik Sinner sets the stage for an enthralling encounter with Alcaraz, following Sinner’s compelling but ultimately unsuccessful five setter.
