President Tinubu set up the Ministry of Livestock Development during the inauguration of the Renewed Hope Livestock Reform Implementation Committee at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Tinubu didn’t reveal the Minister’s name for the new ministry, indicating it might need Senate approval if it’s a new nominee. Among those present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, SGF Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and other cabinet members. This move followed Tinubu’s approval on September 15, 2023, to form a committee aimed at reforming the livestock sector and addressing conflicts between herders and farmers based on recommendations from the National Conference on Livestock Reforms and Conflict Mitigation in Nigeria.
