Protein is a macronutrient that repairs and builds body tissues, supports growth, regulates organs, and repairs body tissues. It’s essential for strong bones and increased strength.
Vegetables provide vital nutrients, fibre, and potassium, and are low in calories, making them perfect for weight loss. They also aid in detoxification, digestion, and hydration.
As humans, we need protein and vegetables to maintain a balanced and rich diet. Unfortunately, many Nigerians don’t consume enough protein and vegetables. Some average Nigerian meals each consist of little protein and vegetables: if any at all. This lack of a balanced diet can stunt growth and lead to a weakened immune system.
A protein deficiency can lead to a weakened immune system, fatigue, and malnutrition. Likewise, not eating enough vegetables can cause fiber deficiency which will slow bowel movements and cause constipation.
Eggs, chicken, meat, fish, and milk are all proteins that we can add to our daily diet. They are also easily accessible. There are different categories of vegetables. However, healthy vegetables such as spinach, lettuce, carrot, and cucumber are beneficial and can be added to our diet.
In a nutshell, we should eat more protein and vegetables because of their numerous benefits. We should strive to get at least 10% of our daily nutrients from protein and make sure one-third of our food is protein and two-thirds are vegetables. It is recommended for healthy growth, a healthy immune system and skin. We should all ensure to eat a balanced diet.
