Colonialism can be defined as a system in which the economic, social and political activities of a country are owned and controlled by foreign influence .
Different African countries witness during experience of foreign influence in their activities for example some part of African countries were colonized by the Spanish , The Dutch , likewise the British and France . The African countries which were colonized by British are the countries that made use of English language as their official language examples of such country include Nigeria , Ghana e.t.c . The countries that were colonized by the French include Senegal , Togo , Cameroon e.t.c .
Even with the attainment of independence by different African countries for example Nigeria which attain her independence in the year 1960 still have some root with her colonizers even after her attainment of independence because most of the structure of Nigeria are still in line with her former colonizer which could be seen in the system of government, education system , cultural practices and so on .

It was even recorded that some of french former colonies still pay huge tribute to the french government even after attaining independence and taking actions on self government which clearly stated that there’s a huge link between them and their former colonizer .

In the aspect of Nigeria it’s recorded and seen that the system of government which is the bi – cameral legislature; in the case that two house is responsible for law making system in the country in Nigeria we have the house of representatives and the house of senate as well . Which is same with the former colonizer as well . Which is also same In the education system and their cultural practices as well in the term of foods, and dressing as well .

Finally even in the modern day colonialism still have a way at which it’s rooting around because the former colonizer still have impact on their former colonies even after the attainment of self independence although not directly involved but this new system is known as Neo- colonialism. Neo colonialism can be defined as a new system of colonialism which is not fully direct but still have some intake in the system of their activities and which is against the sovereignty of self government which is in practice in different African countries. Alot of military camps are suited in different African countries which is owned by the former colonizers without the knowledge of the authority of home country involved .

This perspective of neo colonialism can be eradicated if African countries started promoting their own cultural activities as well as embracing their own home land activities and in such way it can help to.reduce the much flow of neo colonialism which is taking over and at well cut short the full participation of the former colonizer in the activities of their country.

African countries should as well embrace unity and be in harmony and avoid diversity in their activities which would remove or reduce the participation of former colonizers in the activities of their country .

Promotion of democracy which promote the system of sovereignty that promote self government as well and avoid the interference of others in the political activities of their home land country .
