Folorunsho Alakija was born in January 15,1951. She was from an average family. Her parents believed strongly in education so they encouraged her to pursue her dreams.
After she finished her secondary school education, she traveled to the UK to study secretarial studies. Later on, she returned to Nigeria and she got a job as a secretary at Sijuade Enterprise in Lagos, Nigeria.
She also worked at FCMB which was then known as First National Bank of Chicago. She worked in the banking industry for 12 years.
She also went into fashion designing and she established Supreme Stiches.
Later on, she went into oil and gas. She was one of the few Nigerians who was awarded an oil prospecting license in Nigeria. It was then she established Famfa Oil and Gas.
She is passionate about giving back to her community and she has contributed in areas such as education, health care and women empowerment
Folorunsho Alakija is an inspiration to young people, most especially women who wish to be successful in the world of business and entrepreneur.
