Agoyin sauce, a topping for the beloved African dish Ewa Agoyin has been assumed by people that it only fit perfectly well with Ewa Agoyin, funny enough sauce pairs well with a variety of dishes, including fried yam, potatoes, plantains, boiled rice, or ofada rice. The best part is that it can be easily prepared using common kitchen ingredients.
INGREDIENTS
1bowl of water
4 scotch bonnet Pepper (Atarodo)
4 large bell Pepper(Tatashe)
2 red chills(Shombo)
1 cup of palm oil
2 onion bulbs
Grounded crayfish.
Dried smoked bonga fish(Optional)
Salt to taste and seseasonings
Ginger and garlic can be added if desired.
HOW TO PREPARE
Roughly blend the peppers and one onion
In a pot on fire pour the palm oil,heat it up on medium heat untilit changes from it natural red to golden.Leave it to look morelike vegetable oil.
Now add chopped onions and fry until the onion turns brown orblack not burnt(this process will take a while)
Then add some crayfish with the roughly blended peppermixture.
Stir continuously until the onion is no longer visible and thesauce begins to darken a bit
Now add the seasonings and salt to taste,mix well cover andleave to summer for 5 minutes then remove it off the heat thenyour sauce is ready to be used.
Serve with any delicacy of your choice.Remember to consume Agoyinsauce in moderation, as part of a balanced diet, to reap its potentialhealth benefits.
