Hospitals in Lagos are experiencing a surge in cholera cases, with over 1,000 reported in June 2024. This increase has been attributed to the recent heavy rains and flooding, which have compromised water quality. Medical professionals are working tirelessly to treat affected individuals and contain the outbreak. Public health campaigns are being conducted to educate residents on proper hygiene and the importance of drinking clean water.
The Lagos State Ministry of Health is collaborating with non-governmental organizations to provide clean water and sanitation facilities in affected areas, aiming to prevent further spread of the disease.
