Emphasises On Hygiene and Vigilance To Prevent cholera -NNPP Leader AjadiAmb .Olufemi Ajadi ,a leader of New Nigeria People’s Party has urged Nigerians to priotize hygienic practices to prevent the spread of cholera.As cases of severe gastroenteritis continue to rise in Lagos, Ogun, and other states, Amb. Olufemi Ajadi, a prominent leader of NNPP, has urged Nigeria citizens and health care professionals to join forces to prevent the spread Cholera.
There are several reports of gastroenteritis cases in Lagos, Ogun and other States. Prof. Akin Abayomi, confirmied cases of severe gastroenteritis have been found in several local government areas, resulting in 60 hospital admissions ,five deaths particularly patients that were presented late with excessive dehydration.
Similarly, the Ogun Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, has reported 25 suspected cases of cholera in seven local government areas.Ajadi urged residents to ensure safe drinking water by boiling or using bottle water , avoid ice products made from untreated water and also maintain proper sanitation and avoid open defecation.
He also called on the Federal and Ogun State governments to take proactive measures to combat the spread of cholera.”Symptoms of cholera include severe watery diarrhea, vomiting, rapid dehydration, muscle cramps, fever, and sometimes collapse. Ajadi advised treatment options, including rehydration using Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) and intravenous fluids in medical facilities.” He stated.Ajadi urgues the people to report suspect cases of Cholera to hospitals and endeavor to take preventive measures.
