Lagos State Health Commissioner, Professor Akin Abayomi, has provided an update on the cholera outbreak in the state. As of the latest report, 350 suspected cases have been identified across 29 wards in multiple local government areas, with 17 cases confirmed and 15 fatalities. The laboratory tests have confirmed the presence of Cholera subtype O-1, which is associated with more severe symptoms.

While the number of new cases is decreasing in previously affected areas due to interventions and surveillance, new cases are emerging in previously unaffected areas, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and adherence to hygiene measures.”
